Honest answers,
in plain English.
Everything we get asked most often about IndiaNiva, sarees, the launch, and how the brand works.
About IndiaNiva
What is IndiaNiva?
IndiaNiva is a premium India-to-Europe boutique brand, built from Munich, Germany. We bring carefully curated Indian sarees and ethnic wear to women across Germany and the EU.
When does the online shop launch?
The IndiaNiva online shop is planned to launch in July 2027. Until then, we are in our information-first stage — sharing saree education, fabric guides, and styling and drape notes while preparing our first curated collection. Our Tailor Directory is already live and growing.
Why is the wait so long?
It would be easy to drop a few wholesale sarees onto a Shopify store and call it a launch. That is not IndiaNiva. We are taking time to visit suppliers in India, test fabric quality, photograph every piece properly in Germany, set up customer-friendly shipping and returns within the EU, and confirm German tax and compliance with qualified professionals. When the shop opens, it will be small, curated, and worth your trust.
Who is behind IndiaNiva?
IndiaNiva is built by Valentine Pereira, based in Munich. Read more on our About page.
Sarees and products
What kind of sarees will you sell?
Our first collection focuses on premium sarees, wedding-guest sarees, ready-to-wear sarees, and party sarees. Later in 2027, we plan to add selected premium ethnic wear (kurtas, lehengas, dupattas). See our Online Shop page for full details.
Do you offer custom sizing?
No — we offer standard European sizing (XS through XL) with conversion to Indian sizing where relevant. We do not currently offer made-to-measure or custom tailoring. See our Size Guide for details.
Is the blouse included and stitched?
Sarees come with an unstitched blouse piece — the traditional Indian way. You arrange the stitching with an Indian tailor in your city. To make this easier, we have built the IndiaNiva Tailor Directory — a growing list of verified Indian tailors in Germany and Europe.
Are your sarees handloom?
Mixed. Our premium collection is handloom or hand-finished — sourced from weaver clusters in Banaras, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh. Our ready-to-wear and party sarees may be mill-made or power-loom to keep them accessible. Each saree’s fabric and origin will be clearly labelled — we never call something handloom unless it genuinely is. See our Sustainability page.
How do I care for my saree?
We recommend specialist dry cleaning for all our sarees to protect the fabric and finish. A care card will be included with every saree. See our full Care Instructions page.
Shipping, returns, and customs
Where will you ship?
We launch in Germany first, then expand to Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Luxembourg within the first 3 months. Wider EU shipping (Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal) follows once logistics are stable. Non-EU Europe (Switzerland, UK, Norway) is more complex due to customs and not promised at launch.
How long does shipping take?
Within Germany: typically 2–4 working days with tracked shipping. EU shipping: 4–7 working days depending on country. We will publish exact carrier and delivery time information once shipping is configured before launch.
Will I pay customs or import duties?
No — we ship from a warehouse in Germany after we have cleared the goods through customs and paid German import VAT on our side. EU customers receive sarees with no further customs charges to worry about. Non-EU customers (when we add that option later) may need to handle customs locally.
What’s your returns policy?
Once the shop launches, we will offer a 14-day right of withdrawal as required by EU law — buyers can return unworn sarees within 14 days for a full refund. The full returns policy, withdrawal form (Widerrufsbelehrung), and conditions will be published as part of our AGB before launch in July 2027.
Newsletter and privacy
How often do you email subscribers?
Two emails per month maximum. A deliberate commitment — we want to email only when we have something worth your time. In the weeks immediately before the July 2027 launch you may receive slightly more frequent emails (early access, launch reminder) — we will be transparent if that happens.
Can I unsubscribe?
Yes, at any time, with one click from any email we send you. You can also email info@indianiva.com with the subject “Unsubscribe”. See our Newsletter Privacy Notice for full details.
Do you share my data with anyone?
No — we never sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any third party. Your details are used solely for IndiaNiva communications. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Tailor Directory
What is the Tailor Directory?
A growing directory of trusted Indian tailors across Germany and Europe for blouse stitching, saree falls, alterations, and lehenga fittings. The directory is already live — each listing is personally contacted and verified by IndiaNiva before publication. Browse it at indianiva.com/tailor-directory.
I know a great Indian tailor — can I suggest them?
Yes — please do. Use our submission form to share their name, city, services, and contact details. We verify every submission before publishing — typically within 7 to 14 days.
I am an Indian tailor based in Europe — how do I list?
Submit your own listing through our tailor submission form — city, services, languages, full contact details, and a brief description of your work. We review every submission personally and may contact you for verification before the listing goes live.
